Texturization of plant proteins on twin-screw extruders
Texturized proteins can be produced by twin-screw extrusion from different plant sources, e.g. from peas, field beans or sunflowers. These dry and wet extruded intermediate products (TVP and HMMA, respectively) then serve as the basis for the production of vegan meat substitutes. With the technology of the ZSK food extruder, Coperion offers companies a comprehensive solution to exploit the potential of this growing market.
