The Delavan AL air atomizing series of spray nozzles offer the user a wide variety of spray patterns, flow rates, and atomization. Unlike pressurized nozzles, the AL series of nozzles use the energy of pressurized gas (typically air) to atomize the liquid. This allows the liquid to be fed under lower pressure and still achieve fine atomization. This is also helpful when dealing with abrasive or high viscosity liquids.
The AL series of nozzles are designed for flow rates ranging from almost no flow in the siphon-fed style to over 1 gpm in the pressurized designs. The low flow rates and air atomization combine to give the AL series extremely fine atomization. Droplet sizes below 50 micron Sauter Mean Diameter (SMD) can be expected. In the lower flow rates, droplet sizes below 20 micron SMD are not uncommon.
The mechanics of the atomization in the AL series can be either external or internal mixing of the liquid and atomizing gas. There are also flat spray and solid cone spray patterns to choose from. Body designs can feature a clean out needle to prevent plugging or a shut off needle to prevent dripping and product loss. The AL series can be configured for automated systems to allow independent pneumatic control of atomization and the clean out/shut off needle. Delavan can also manufacture lances for the AL nozzles series including dual fluid connections to allow your spray to be located exactly where it is needed.
