IPP 70-S – standard probe

The IPP 70-S is the standard version of the particle probe for universal use in sectors without ATEX requirements.

When used in conjunction with a measuring PC, it allows for the determination of particle size distribution (e.g., Q0, Q3) as well as the attributes of the distribution (x10, x50, x90, etc.) directly within the process.

It consists of a robust stainless-steel construction with sapphire windows to protect the optics from wear.

Its dimensions, measuring ranges and accessories make it compatible with all other probe models, so all of the accessories for process adaptation can also be used with the IPP 70-S.

Compressed-air-driven accessories, such as dispersers, ensure that the measuring volume and measurement optics are kept permanently free from contamination while also guaranteeing optimal adaptation to process and particle attributes. The probe is therefore also suitable for use in processes with damp and sticky particles. Using a disperser means that measurements can also be taken in processes with irregular particle movement, such as in fluidised beds, or processes with high particle loads, such as high-shear processes.

LEDs in the electronics housing and signals in the measuring software provide the user with information regarding the reliable functioning and operating status of the probe.

A complete measuring system consists of the IPP 70-S with accessories for process adaptation, and a measuring PC with measuring program for particle searching and the calculation of all distributions. The measured results can then be made available to a higher-level control system via optional interfaces.

IPP 70-Se – standard ATEX probe

The IPP 70-Se is the intrinsically safe version of the standard model IPP 70-S for use in processes with ATEX requirements.

When used in conjunction with a measuring PC, it allows for the determination of particle size distribution (e.g., Q0, Q3) as well as the attributes of the distribution (x10, x50, x90, etc.) even directly within processes in ATEX zones 0/20 (gas/dust).

IPP 75-S – individual length

The IPP 75-S is the special probe for use in large and deep process areas, such as high-shear mixers. To this end, the probe features a new illumination concept as also used in the IPP 80-P pharmaceutical probe. This makes it possible to produce versions of the probe with almost any required length.

IPP 80-P – pharma probe

The IPP 80-P has been specially designed for use in processes within the pharmaceutical field. Wherever there are demanding requirements with regards to cleanliness, cleanability and hygiene, this is a valuable PAT tool for implementing modern production processes based on the Quality by Design (QbD) principle. It is designed as an intrinsically safe probe for use in processes with ATEX requirements.

The IPP 80-P provides additional hardware-based, and therefore continuous, monitoring of the laser illumination and the receiving optics with automatic signalling in the measurement software. This guarantees reliable operation at all times, both prior to use within a process and during an ongoing measuring operation.

The new In-line Particle Probe IPP 85 combines two measuring probes in one device – an additional measuring mode enables the measurement of fine particles with a lower limit of the measuring range of 20 μm.

A number of new in-line dispersers, specially developed for this fine measuring range, enable the use of the IPP 85 even under challenging conditions (wet, sticky, dusty). In addition, the uncomplicated installation and the intuitive software are features that make the IPP 85 a valuable PAT tool for many pharmaceutical processes.

The IPP 85 also does not contain moving parts that must be switched or adjusted but essentially redesigned optics and electronics. It is GMP-compatible, has ATEX certification for Zone 0/20, and with ParsumView, it fulfills the requirements of 21CFR Part 11.

New Features of IPP 85

• New Measuring Range for Particle Size

A new range is provided for fine particles from 20 μm to 600 μm. The second range from 50μm to 6mm corresponds to the previous measuring mode of the IPP 80-P probe. The switchover only takes place in the software.

• Measurement of High Particle Velocities

The IPP 85 can measure particles up to a speed of 100 m / sec in both measuring ranges, allowing for new, effective dispersion concepts.

• Integrated Probe Memory

Additional memory built into the barrier enclosure contains all the vital information for the unambiguous identification of the probe and stores calibration data (OQ) and error messages. In addition, manuals and certificates belonging to the probe are stored electronically in this memory.

• New Service Features

The measuring software checks the condition of the probe each time the program is started and stores the data for service in the probe memory, automatically reminding the user that calibration or OQ is due.

• Process Assistant

The process assistant enables the quick initial setup of a measuring point in a new process without special knowledge of the software or the measurement parameters.

• New Accessories

New disperser types D34 and D32 ensure effective in-line dispersion of even fine materials, a crucial requirement for reliable measurement.
