Steel construction

There are great forces on high silo structures that need to be handled by the supporting steel construction. There are also specific conditions for each silo that have a great impact on the loads that the silo has to be able to bear: from the bulk weight of the product to be stored combined with the capacity per cell to the vibrating machines on the cell deck, from wind loads or hurricane forces to serious earthquakes. The huge forces on a silo have to ultimately be borne by a sound steel structure.

TSC is able to supply a suitable steel support structure. Everything is calculated in accordance with the latest standards and we use advanced computer software to work everything out down to the smallest detail, so safety is guaranteed. We usually adopt European standards but we also take local regulations into account.

The detailed design of the steel construction is completely done in 3D. It enables us to check the construction in every detail, including the positioning of the machinery. Avoiding collisions with machinery and/or conveying equipment is therefore guaranteed, which is the best thing for everyone.

Roof structure

It is important that there is a dry and safe working environment at the top of the silo. TSC can easily provide this using a customised roof structure that is calculated to suit the loads of roofing and facade cladding. Which means that TSC provides exactly the complete, integrated solution that suits you.

Hoppers

Hoppers are a crucial part of every plant and therefore of every silo that we build. Without the right hoppers the production process grinds to a halt. TSC devotes a great deal of attention to this elementary part of the silo structure; after all, the hopper is literally a bottleneck in the process.

Hoppers can be supplied in all desired shapes and sizes to suit your product and your process.

Contrasets

If you have a lot of different products in relatively small volumes but you want to load a bulk trailer quickly, then contrasets are the answer.

A contraset is pretty much a small silo block consisting of various, fairly small compartments. Contraset compartments are connected one by one to the bulk trailer compartments. This means that all the trailer compartments can be loaded at the same time. In the case of traditional loading systems only one or a few compartments are loaded at the same time.

Case studies show that contrasets can cut loading time by up to 80%.

As well as hoppers TSC also supplies bunkers for intermediate storage. Naturally we ensure a seamless fit with the rest of the process.

Smooth wall silo

If there is one unique feature of TSC silos, it is the completely flat, smooth wall silo. Even the most difficult bulk products leave our smooth wall silos without any problem. A clever design ensures that there are no welding seams on the inside of the cell. Smooth-walled silos derive their strength from the same clever design.

The modular construction means that the cell layout is designed completely to suit your requirements and is adapted to suit your unique production process. We can build any length, width or height.

Sometimes raw materials or minerals with a corrosive character are stored in our silos. This sets special requirements for the storage. Thanks to the inventive, double-walled, smooth-walled system it is possible to manufacture the smooth-walled silos economically in stainless steel. The parts of the silo that come into contact with the product are made from stainless steel. The other parts are made from normal steel with a coating. This results in a silo that is resistant to aggressive substances, such as lime and salt, and guarantees a smooth product flow.

Profiled wall silo

If maximum storage capacity is very important and if free-flowing products are being stored, then a profiled wall silo is your first choice. The rectangular construction and the light single-wall system make maximum use of space. As the profiled wall is itself very strong, less steel is required, which also makes this an economic solution. To prevent condensation (insulated) roofing and facade cladding can be fitted to the silo.

As long as the cell can be reinforced, a profiled wall also makes it possible to achieve greater surface areas per cell compared with a smooth-walled silo. This means that silos with a volume of 1,000 m³ per cell are possible. It goes without saying that the design will be suited completely to your requirements.

Our profiled-wall silos can be found in, for example, coffee roasting plants and breweries, where they are used for the process-based storage of (roasted) coffee beans and (malted) barley.

Roofing and faca

TSC handles the construction of square silos from A tot Z. Part of this – if desired – is distinctive roofing and facade cladding, fully in your own style. TSC is able to supply and install both the purlins and roof structure and the single or insulated wall cladding and roofing. And the required pivoting/tilting windows, electric roller doors, skylight or fire-resistant doors are no problem. Everything customised, just as you want it.

One less thing for you to think about during the construction, a great temperature for your employees, and nice and quiet for local residents. What’s more, insulation prevents the formation of condensation.
