Buss-SMS-Canzler GmbH is the number 1 in thin film evaporation technology and an international leader in drying and high viscosity technology. We develop and build apparatus and systems, e.g. for the evaporation, drying and processing of high viscosity materials that are exactly what our customers need: extremely precise, efficient and when it matters most - highly innovative.
The decades of experience of the companies Luwa, SMS, Buss and Canzler, which are bundled at Buss-SMS-Canzler GmbH, and our technical center are the basis for customer-specific process solutions. Our devices and systems with constantly newly conceived solutions set standards in thermal separation technology. We offer support through all project phases: from the process engineering design through pilot tests, engineering, design, production and documentation to assembly, commissioning and after-sales service both on site and via remote support.
Supported by laboratory and pilot tests, our specialists select a drying technology suitable for your application. Laboratory tests show the basic feasibility. Trials on our pilot plants provide the basis for the design, not only on behalf of our customers, but also in our own development projects.
The process steps of drying, cooling, heating, calcining, reacting, mixing, sublimating and sterilizing are implemented in the continuously operating dryers from Buss-SMS-Canzler GmbH. Temperatures between -20°C and 400°C, process pressures from 0.01 to 30 bar and residence times from seconds to several hours are covered. Buss-SMS-Canzler dryers differ in their specific working principles, which are tailored to the drying behavior of the materials used. Vertical thin film dryers consist of a cylindrical, vertical body with a heating jacket. An internal rotor is equipped with pendulum elements over the entire length. In the inlet area, the food mass flow is distributed in a thin product layer on the heating surface. Evaporation begins on the way through the dryer after heating to the boiling point. The first solids are formed in the slurry zone, and as the evaporation of the volatile components progresses, the material breaks down into powder. The solid product is discharged at the lower end of the dryer via a suitable lock.
Our horizontal thin film dryers process sewage and industrial sludge, chemical products, pharmaceutical intermediates and high value proteins. Horizontal thin layer dryers can be manufactured with particularly large heating surfaces of up to 150 m² for large food mass flows and high evaporation capacities.
In contrast to thin layer dryers, the horizontal CFT dryer is about half filled with product particles. The CFT dryer (CFT=Combined Fluidization Technology) combines the advantages of fluidized bed drying with the advantages of contact drying. In the CFT dryer, the food mass flow is mixed into the intensively mixed bed of hot product particles. The volatile components evaporate on the surface of the hot particles within a very short time. This means that products can also be dried in the CFT dryer that go through several phases, from liquid to highly viscous, pasty, sticky, crust-forming to solid. Such fabrics cannot usually be dried in other types of dryers. Typical applications for CFT dryers are TDI recovery and industrial and paint sludge treatment.
We also provide innovative solutions for such difficult tasks. For us, innovation primarily means working together with our customers to constantly improve the functionality and efficiency of their systems - for even better quality of the separated materials.
