Whether in the form of precut sections or as a complex component: Metal woven wire cloth is used everywhere in industry, research, the building trade and many aspects of everyday life. From flow filters in water taps to the precision filter elements in spacecraft, woven wire cloth fulfils a variety of requirements and is fundamental to the areas of application.
Material, shape, and function are closely interrelated in filters and fabricated parts made from woven metal wire. Based on more than 125 years of experience in the field of wire weaving technology, Haver & Boecker produce metal woven mesh made of steel and stainless steel alloys, and special materials such as titanium, Hastelloy or silver, or non-ferrous metals such as aluminium, phosphor-bronze, brass, copper, nickel or MONEL. From this metal woven mesh, the company designs and manufactures a wide range of products, for example filters and fabricated parts for the automotive industry, aviation and aerospace sector, for the chemical, electronics, medical technology, water filtration, domestic appliances and food industries, for plastic processing and machine engineering applications.
Subsequent processing takes place using state-of-the-art systems and machines technology. Our manufacturing processes not only allow standard solutions but also individually customized applications, such as the development of new products, automation solutions, and the design of optimised manufacturing and test processes. Haver & Boecker have their own tool shop which designs special machines and tools and supplies not only the drawings but also the CAM data for the CNC machine tools for lathing, milling and electrical discharge machining. In addition to conventional stamping and deep-drawing tools, Haver & Boecker build fully automated special machines and plastic injection moulding tools. This gives the customer the benefit of a tailored single-source solution, from the manufacture of the woven wire cloth over further processing up to the packaged product. This ensures efficient manufacturing processes, reliable function and optimum product quality, and allows for the special designs required in the above-named sectors.
Precise filter mesh for efficient filtration
Filter media made of woven wire cloth are offered in an extremely broad range, from ultra-fine micron structures up to coarse structures. In contrast to the structures of fibre mats made of paper, plastic or metal fibres, the geometry and thus the filter structure of woven wire cloth is perfectly uniform over the entire filter surface. Made of metal materials, wire mesh has a high mechanical strength, temperature resistance, wettability, and it is extremely resistant to chemicals and physical influences.
Pore size and thus the material and flow properties can be precisely defined. In cooperation with Stuttgart University, Haver & Boecker developed mathematical equations and validated them by glass bead tests and air flow measurements. These calculation processes now provide for optimum dimensioning of the new filter mesh already before the production in accordance with the customer's individual requirements, eliminating the need for time-consuming and expensive tests.
