Facile determination of specific surface area and pore size distribution – the NOVAtouch
The properties of porous materials are heavily influenced by their specific surface area, the pore volume, and the pore size distribution. Determining these parameters does not need to be difficult and time consuming. Instruments of the NOVAtouch series are fully automated vacuum-volumetric gas sorption analyzers that can measure up to four samples simultaneously, allowing to carry out four BET and pore size analysis while degassing up to four more samples at the same time.
All instruments of the NOVAtouch series work as stand-alone instruments. The void volume can be measured using the classic Helium method or the proprietary and time-saving NOVA-mode. The accuracy of the measurement is improved by measuring the saturation pressure using a dedicated P0-cell and transducer while also speeding up the measurement. A cryogenic liquid sensor (CLS) increases the sensitivity of the instrument by facilitates a constant small cold volume throughout the entire measurement (max. 40h). The integrated gas inputs allow to connect up to three adsorptives simultaneously, and the possibility to measure CO2 isotherms at 273 K allows the rapid characterization of microporous carbons.
The integrated touch screen renders the NOVAtouch a real stand-alone instrument, allowing the user to select and start degassing programs with multiple heating rates and dwell times in flow or vacuum mode. An external computer can be used to control the NOVAtouch, upload analysis and sample preparation programs, and analyze data using the TouchWinTM software package. The NOVAtouch is available with two and four analysis station, making it easy to identify the prefect instrument for every task.
