Multiple application fields with new Vacuum Conveyors
The transportation of powders, dusts and granules in chemical-, pharmaceutical- and food-industries requires a high-quality and flexible conveying system, which is designed on the basis of a modular concept. If in addition the materials to be conveyed are like fine dye-powders, coarse swarfs-/metal-chips- lumps, heavy ferric-powders or chemicals like TiO2 or SiO2, new innovative methods are to be developed. The presented result of Volkmann is a process-safe, pneumatic conveying system for ready-made solutions of diverse conveying tasks.
This year also a new generation of Vacuum Conveyors and Multijectorâ Vacuum Pumps are presented to a larger audience. The usage of complex computerised flow simulation and the long-standing empirical optimisations lead to the new nozzle system, which decreases compressed air consumption and increases suction capacity.
It appears that there is no other kind of conveying, which allows the transportation of so many different and difficult materials. Moreover, with the modular stainless steel separators/receivers of the new generation it is effortless to convey even different powders or granules with the same kind of conveyor. A cross-contamination is avoided, because all parts, which are in contact with the material to be conveyed, can be easily dismantled and cleaned without tools. Also the tough and solid filtration material withstands wet cleaning under high pressure or the cleaning in an ultrasonic bath. This is especially important for applications in the pharmaceutical- or food industries. Moreover WIP- and CIP-functions are available as a modular upgrading for the Conveyors. As a further option the Vacuum Receiver can be equipped with load cells to create VAWIDOS (Vacuum, Weighing and Dosing Systems).
The physical principle of Vacuum Conveying is originally “dust-free” by design since developed dust clouds are sucked in and the powder transfer takes place in a closed loop. Different from pneumatic conveying with positive pressure, the material flow cannot leave the transportation hose or pipe (leakage problems). Various adapter systems ensure that there is also a safe discharging of the conveyor and no material contaminates the environment. Hence even extreme fine dusts like toner powder are conveyable. Plug-flow-conveying and the special design of the receivers as well as the processes avoid the danger of segregation & separation during the powder transfer. The special Volkmann Powder Transfer Systems allowed full certification according to ATEX regulations already in 2002 so EX applications are a standard.
Apart from the known discontinuous conveying it is now possible to perform continuous conveying with a smart combination of two stainless steel separator containers. This design increases the achievable transporting capacities considerable and sets milestones with regard to the realisation of extraordinary conveying heights and distances.
Current transfer data for products like flame soot, zinc oxide, sulphur, coated pills and bacon lumps are offered by the manufacturer.
