RETSCH TECHNOLOGY presents the new laser diffraction particle analyzer HORIBA LA-350 – the advanced and optimized successor of the LA-300 analyzer – at Powtech. Based on the innovatively designed optical system the LA-350 still has a very small footprint. The dispersion system for the measurement of suspensions and emulsions, including a strong ultrasonic probe, and the optical system are designed as one unit. Thanks to its compact size the analyzer can be easily transported to different locations.

Detectors, sample dispersion system and software of the LA-350 have been optimized. The number and arrangement of the detectors allows for reliable measuring results in a size range from 0.1 to 1000 microns. This is more than most laser diffraction analyzers with larger optical systems and modular design have to offer.

The LA-350 provides a perfect combination of excellent measurement results, easy operation, compact size and attractive price.

RETSCH TECHNOLOGY is a leading supplier of optical particle analyzers covering measuring ranges from 0.3 nm to 30 mm. Based on a variety of measurement technologies, the instruments are suitable for particle size and particle shape characterization in dry and wet mode.

The LA-960 operates on the basis of static laser light scattering (acc. ISO 13320) and was developed as a solution to customer requirements for a high-performance, flexible, and easy to use instrument for a wide variety of applications - from particle charactarization of powders and granules to the measuring of suspensions and emulsions.

It can be ordered in different configurations for:

• Dry measurement
• Wet measurement
• Combination of dry and wet measurement

The complete processing time from one sample to the next is only 1 minute, this is only a quarter of the usual time up to now. An integrated system and software automation guarantees simple operation and excellent reproducibility of the measuring results. The measuring cells are located on a movable slide which makes changing the dispersion unit a matter of seconds.

Single range-Samples can be measured over the complete range (0.01 to 5000 μm) without the need to combine different measurements and/or change lenses.

The LA-960 features a powerful circulation system for wet measurements. Thanks to the increased sensitivity small particles with a diameter up to 10 nm are reliably detected. In combination with the evaluation software the system sets new standards regarding precision, speed and resolution.

For dry measurements the effective dispersion unit PowderJet can be used. Thanks to the combination of dry measurement cell with integrated dispersion nozzle and suction mechanism, a great variety of powders can be dispersed and measured quickly and reliably.

The new, compact nano particle analyzer HORIBA SZ-100 is designed for particle size measurement down to the nano range as well as for the determination of zeta potential and molecular weight.

The SZ-100 measures ultrafine particles down to the nanometer range in extremely low as well as in extremely high sample concentrations. This newly developed analyzer is used in the fields of bio and nano technology (e.g. nano ceramics, nano metals) and for protein analyses. The HORIBA SZ-100 provides the best measurement results and features a wide measurement range from 0.3 nm to 8 microns. Therefore the instrument not only meets the requirements of modern laboratories but also the quality control needs at production facilities.

Particle Size Measurement from 0.3 nm to 8 µm
The SZ-100 measures the particle size distribution over a wide measurement range using photon correlation spectroscopy (PCS). Analyses are possible across a wide range of sample concentrations: from low ppm-order concentrations to high-concentration samples in double-digit percentages. Disposable standard plastic cells or glass cuvettes can be used for analysis. The required sample volume ranges between 12 µl and 3 ml.

Measurement of Zeta Potential from -200 to + 200 mV
Analysis of sample volumes as small as 100μL using HORIBA-developed microelectrophoresis cells.

Determination of the Molecular Weight from 1 x 103 bis 2 x 107 g/mol
Absolute molecular weight (Mw) and the second virial coefficient (A2) are obtained by performing static light scattering measurement while changing sample concentration and preparing Debye plots.
