The Institute of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics at Heinrich Heine University in Duesseldorf, Germany, is leading with international reputation in the development, manufacturing and characterisation of solid drug dosage forms. In addition to conventional methods such as granulation, extrusion, tableting and coating, some modern technologies such as mini-tableting and three-dimensional drug printing are investigated. The manufactured drug dosage forms are characterised by traditional and modern analytical methods, e.g. using computer tomography or electronic tongues.
Key research topics are continuous manufacturing, process-analytical technologies (PAT), the development of paediatric medicines or orphan drugs, and concepts for individual drug dosing.
More than 30 employees cooperate under the guidance of Prof. Kleinebudde and Prof. Breitkreutz with numerous partners from academia and industry, by bilateral cooperation, in research consortia or as service provider.
