A number of process engineering processes are required to convert conventional and renewable raw materials into products. These are needed in the materials-converting industry, e.g. the chemical industry. A manufacturing process often involves basic operations from different disciplines: chemical process engineering, fluid process engineering, thermal process engineering, mechanical process engineering, biological process engineering, energy process engineering, environmental process engineering as well as plant and process engineering.
At the Institute of Process Engineering (IVT), these fields have been successfully dealt with in research and technology transfer since 2013. Apart from contract research, consultations for companies and trade as well as laboratory investigations e.g. repose angle determinations etc.; the institute performs experimental and theoretical work with commercial CAPE tools (Computer Aided Process Engineering).
In addition to the tools used for the development and optimization of the technical processes, we pursue the general approaches of process engineering, for example:

- Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
