Solo are exhibiting their API Drum Sample Recovery Isolator at POWTECH 2016. The Isolator, also from their soloPLUS product range, provides a cost effective and easy to use alternative to a rigid shell system.
These cost savings and the speed at which the Isolator can be manufactured and supplied, make it an ideal solution for single use containment, removing the necessity for expensive decontamination and subsequent disposal of contaminated cleaning fluids.
Designed for OEB 3 & 4 rated compounds, the Isolator uses flexible film technology and single use Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) drum sleeves to simplify the drum access and sample recovery operation. The innovative design allows the API drum to stay on its transportation pallet, if needed, and means any floor mounted drum can be loaded into the sample recovery zone without the use of a drum lifter or handler.
Solo link the API drum into the containment zone using a custom designed LDPE sleeve that incorporates a snap over encapsulated O-ring. The upper part of the drum connection sleeve can be attached to a multi-groove canister on the underside of the hinge up drum connection ring.
This Isolation system allows drum after drum to be sampled with no breech of containment. Sampled drums are returned to the warehouse fully sealed, with lids in place and covered by the Solo LDPE ‘shower cap’. The sample product is then removed from the Isolator in a controlled manner via a continuous liner bag out port.
Solo also offer the Ezi-Dock ‘Ezi-StrapTM’ crimp system to fully seal the LDPE sleeves during drum and Isolator separation.
The addition of negative pressure airflow to the drum sampling chamber provides an extra level of protection, a feature which is standard on all soloPLUS Isolators.
As operator comfort and ergonomics are always a high priority in the design of their flexible containment systems, Solo have included a hydraulic raise/lower work table in the Isolator to allow the operator to set their own working height for added comfort.
