J. Engelsmann AG, the specialist for bulk solids processes, presents a new add-on module to its JEL SafeConnect big bag connection system at POWTECH 2014 in Nuremberg. The additional fitting offered under the name JEL Protect provides protection for operating personnel when emptying big bags and protects the downstream process from hazards and contamination.
Difficulties are not uncommon when filling and emptying big bags. The different heights of the big bag inlets and outlets may lead to complex adjustments being necessary. With the development of the JEL SafeConnect connection system, Engelsmann is providing the perfect solution for the safe connection of big bags in various sizes. Following its successful launch on the market, the bulk solids specialist from Ludwigshafen is now launching an add-on module for the system with JEL Protect, which prevents contamination of the downstream systems parts by dirt and foreign objects when emptying big bags and therefore guarantees a safe emptying process.
The JEL Protect stainless steel accessory components consist of a shutter cover, a chamber above it and a suction device. When using JEL Protect, the add-on module with closed shutter cover is flanged under the JEL SafeConnect system and the big bag outlets are connected to the connection system. The add-on module's chamber is flushed with air to remove any possible dirt particles, e.g. wood chips or other foreign objects that have collected inside the outlets while the big bag was being transported. After the flushing process, the shutter cover is opened and the big bag's tie cord is released to start the emptying process. Once the big bag has been completely emptied, the JEL Protect module's shutter cover is closed again so that any use that is hazardous to health is prevented and the subsequent bulk solids process is protected from contamination by dirt and foreign objects.
The new JEL Protect add-on module's function and technical details can be seen at the Engelsmann booth 4A-323 in Hall 4A at POWTECH.
