Due to HACCP screening is coming to the fore

AZO, the specialist for cyclone screening technology has shown several concepts to meet the HACCP guidelines in the safety screening sector.

All companies working with food have a special obligation of executive care, obliging them that distributed food and confectionery goods are marked safe and right.

Up to the nineties it was contemporary to do the final check only by sampling in order to warranty food safety. If a sample where rejected it was difficult to find faults in the production process when weeks has been gone.

On 1st January 2006 the regulation (EG) no. 852/2004 on food hygiene became effective. According to this all companies handling foodstuffs resp. confectionaries are obliged to initiate a complete HACCP system.

Safety screening at supply from silo vehicles
It is recommendable to have a safety screening process for the supplied raw materials. In this case a screener type TW 650 for safety screening in closed pneumatic conveying systems is the best solution. A typical case of operation is the filling stage between silo vehicle and storage silo or after product feeding stations in order to avoid that contaminations like residuals of packings, agglomeration etc.

Function principle
By means of quick acting couplings the screener type TW 650 will be connected between the silo vehicle and the silo to be filled. By means of switch-on of the pressure generator the bulk material will be transported through the screen. Therefore pollutions which are larger than the mesh size will be hold back. A unbalanced vibrator avoids blockages of the screen during the screening process. Afterwards the quick clamps can be opened with less effort and the screener can be inspected and pollutions can be withdrawn.

Safety screening at product intake for bags and big bags
After feeding hoppers for bags and after big bag discharge stations it might make sense to use cyclone screeners and metal separators. In the meantime the cyclone screening technology type DA, developed by AZO, became a fast seller for safety screening since no dosing device is necessary.

Function principle
The material enters the metering screw via the product inlet and is transferred to the screen casing. The specific metering of the product for the screening process can be effected by means of a frequency transformer for the adjustable screw speed. The material is picked up by the separately driven intake distributor with fluidizing bars and gently swirled through the screen cage. The fines drop through the screen into the fines discharge, the coarse material is transferred to the coarse material outlet where it is gently discharged. The screen basket can be easily pulled out and swivelled to the side of the casing for inspection by means of the special extraction device with quick-release clamps. All connections which are relevant to the safety of the unit are protected by safety devices (limit switches) which immediately cut off the machine when it is opened. The screen fabric, which is mounted on rings, can vibrate freely and therefore cleans itself automatically. The additionally installed baffle makes sure that not too much fine material enters the coarse product outlet.

Safety screening inline during production
Cyclone screening technologies can be installed in existing production processes at any time. It can be integrated inline between the individual operation stages. Special attention has to be drawn to the product intake and discharge as well as the individual case of operation.

Safety screening before filling resp. packing
In order to be sure that only faultless goods are leaving the production it makes sense to have an additional safety screening and metal separation process in advance to the filling stage
