VARO has developed a new, patented unwrapping machine for products on pallets. The VARO Unwrapper can cut and remove plastic wrapping of any kind of product on pallets, without damaging the products underneath the plastic wrapping. This makes it the first ever versatile unwrapping solution for production companies.
Solution to a resource demanding process
Production companies have long been in demand of a technology to unwrap shipping pallets with varying load and thereby eliminate manual unwrapping of shipping pallets. The manual process is not only time consuming and resource demanding – it also involves very repetitive and monotonous work with a high risk of work-related injuries involving knives or falls from a ladder. Also, the risk of static electric shock from handling the plastic wrap makes unwrapping of shipping pallets an uncomfortable, and in some cases even dangerous, task for employees.
Based on these challenges and the need for an automated solution in the market, VARO has developed a state-of-the-art unwrapper, which can overtake the unwrapping process, while warehouse staff can work more efficiently with other tasks.
Unique process for automatic removal of wrapping
The new, patented technology enables the unwrapping of all kinds of products on standard pallets, even if they are stacked unevenly on the pallet. This is made possible through a unique process, where the Unwrapper scans the height and shape of the pallet before the cutting process. Hereafter the wrapping is cut, without damaging underlying shrink wrap or products, and is consequently removed by two extendable arms with suction. A suction head on the top ensures the removal of top wrapping. While the wrapping can then be transported to recycling containers either manually or automatically with suction, the pallet continues its journey to further processing, as the VARO Unwrapper can easily be connected with existing production lines or be delivered with a depalletizer.
Global Fortune 500 company one of the first to invest in unwrapping technology
At VAROs testing facility in Denmark, customers can test their own pallets and products on the VARO Unwrapper Core. Last year, VARO welcomed a European manufacturing site, owned by an American Fortune 500 company, for on-site testing of their shipping pallets with their internal packaging equipment.
After satisfactory testing of the VARO Unwrapper, they have purchased two VARO Unwrappers. The machines will be delivered in early Summer 2022 and contribute to increased efficiency at the company´s manufacturing site.
