SM Mill is used for pulverizing of different raw materials like coal, petcoke, limestone, dolomite, gypsum, anhydrite, copper matte, cellulose, etc.
SM Mill operate according to the principle of the vertical roller mills.
The raw material can be fed on the rotating grinding bowl either centrally or from the side. Centrifugal force moves the material outward and under the grinding rollers where it is ground. The conveying gas that is admitted through the edge of the grinding bowl takes up the material and conveys it up to the integrated classifier.
If drying of the feed material is necessary, than the conveying gas is preheated thus grinding and drying is being performed in the same technological step inside the mill. The maximum gas temperature at the mill inlet can be up to 450oC. Drying is instantaneous because of efficient mixing action so the temperature in the grinding chamber is usually between 60 and 120oC.
Careful aerodynamic design mill housing results reduced internal circulations thus low specific energy consumption is achieved.
Arrangement of three large diameter conical grinding rollers ensures effective utilisation of the grinding bowl as well as reduced bearing load. The grinding elements are easily accessible and individually replaceable or renewable. The grinding forces are applied hydraulically and are adjustable to the specific product needs so that the power requirement for the grinding process is optimised.
Journal stop bolts prevent direct contact between grinding rollers and grinding bowl.
